SMF Arcade Support + Plugins / Re: Bad EmulatorJS Install?
Last post by Chen Zhen - February 22, 2025, 10:59:56 PM

When you edit one of those games does it show a ROM game type?
Some raw ROM games use a general file type that can be applied to multiple consoles ( example: .BIN ).
This means that during installation for that scenario the Arcade will not know what game type to set & manually setting it may be required.

For this SMF-Arcade version, "raw" ROM game archives can only be uploaded as a zip or 7z archive.
Many "raw" ROM games are supported usually in a single file format ( [1 file] -or- [1 bin + 1 cue] ) but not all will function using EmulatorJS. You will need to use trial & error when installing ROM games in the "raw" format. These sourced games do not come with any set-up files or thumbnails therefore a random thumbnail is provided upon installation & it will be up to an Arcade-Admin to enter the description, help text & to replace the thumbnail if desired. The Arcade attempts to determine the console type during installation but will leave the game unset if the ROM file type can be used for multiple consoles or if it fails to detect it.

For this SMF-Arcade version, SMF-ROM game archives can only be uploaded as a zip archive.
SMF-ROM games are supported so long as they are working on another SMF-Arcade platform. Any thumbnails, description, help, console type, etc. should be included in its zip archive & will install similar to FLASH/HTML5 games in that respect.

At this time ROM games are void of score support although we are looking into adding this in an upcoming SMF-Arcade release. However, these game types do allow for saving progress to a file on the users device.

SMF Arcade Support + Plugins / Bad EmulatorJS Install?

I think I must have messed something up during the installation because I get this whenever I try to play certain ROMS:

But I'm not sure where to look.

SMF Arcade Support + Plugins / ROM game. Failed to Start?
Last post by Senkusha - February 22, 2025, 06:38:05 PM
I'll admit that I'm very new to the world of arcade games, and I'm attempting to play a longtime favorite NES game SkyShark, but after I installed it, it refuses to start with a red error message.  Failed to Start Game.  I'm not sure what the problem could be.  Other NES ROMs like Super Mario Bros works fine though.  What troubleshooting steps do I need to follow here?

Battle Support / Battle! + ST Shop
Last post by Senkusha - February 22, 2025, 07:29:33 AM
I've got a number of mods that eventually I'd like to get to work together.  But I have a question.  Does the Battle mod use it's own inventory and credits database, or does it tie in to other Shop mods, like ST Shop (which I think is the only Shop mod that is compatible with SMF 2.1.4)?

SMF Arcade Support + Plugins / Re: Searching by Category?

Quote from: Chen Zhen on February 07, 2025, 07:35:01 PMIf you select a category while in the arcade & search for games, you don't have to use the popup suggestions.
Just hit enter or the search button and it will search your criteria in the current selected category.

Note that the system records the selected category & stays focused on it until you select another (or all).

I see.  Thank you so much, Chen.   :)

Currently the short answer is no.

If you want to search by Category it means that you probably know the name of the game you're after. The current search function finds all games in all categories, by just starting to type a game name it will start to produce results below the search box which when clicked on will take you to that game.

Alternatively select the category you want to search in and then list a-z and go through the category that way, as the settings allow you to have as many games on a page as you like, it probably wouldn't take long to find the game your after. The member settings, for games on a page, override the main arcade settings.

After Chen reads this he may have a solution for you but I don't know of one that will do what you ask, sorry

SMF Arcade Support + Plugins / Searching by Category?
Last post by Grammy - February 06, 2025, 11:36:11 AM
Hi.  Just installed the latest SMF arcade on my 2.1.4 default forum.  It's working beautifully.  I just wondered, though, from within the arcade itself, is it possible to be able to search for games by category?  Currently, I see "Latest, A-Z, Z-A, Most Popular, Lease Popular, Champions, Latest Champions, Rating, and Favorites".  Is there any sort of file edit that would add the categories to the search?  Currently, since the arcade is new, I only have "Default, Cards, Mahjong, Arcade, Matching, and Word Games".

I'm sorry if this has already been asked, I didn't come across it using the search.

Thank you.   :)
