Spamblocker / Nginx Proxy and SpamBlocker
April 04, 2021, 10:16:12 PM
I tried to install the nginx proxy on my server to speed things up but when I do SMF bans me. LMAO I have to restore the db and files from a backup which only takes a min or three. I can't figure out why it is doing this except that spamblocker is blocking because of the proxy?

Here's the docs on it. Maybe you can shed some light on it or at least rule out Spamblocker?

Site Discussion / Top Section Login Issue
February 04, 2021, 09:29:20 AM
I can't login using the top_section's login. The Daily Lucky Numbers sit on top of the login button...at least in Firefox.

The main menu's login works just fine.

you may also need Arcade.french-utf8.php if you are using utf8. It would also be good to add that file for others as well. :)

Backtrace information  Type of error: User
Unable to verify referring URL. Please go back and try again.

There's a few of these now in the error log

Not sure what changed for all these errors to start now

I've been getting those errors for quite awhile now. I allow guests to see the arcade only. They are not allowed to play the games or save scores.

I also force https throughout the server for security reasons.

Merry Christmas, to you and your loved ones, Chen as well as all of the members! :)
LOL, yes, just what I've always wanted...people coming over to eat my food, greasy controllers, and a fire hazard. Last time I checked, oil and electronics don't mix. And how are you going to clean out the oil and crumbs that will drip into the bottom of it? KFC is some really greasy chicken! It's not like the old days anymore... :(
Site Discussion / KFConsole, Yes! A Real Gaming Console!

I figured all would get a kick out of this, so I'm posting it. LMAO

KFC, the fried chicken company, has lost their minds! They're actually going to come out with a gaming console!

There's no price or date set for release as of yet...

Sorry to hear about what happened. Windows Defender has never been the best tool for such things, imo, and I haven't used it many years.

I know this is after the fact, but he's some info in case it returns or for anyone else who may get it:

No problem. ;D

It can be annoying and can cause issues with some mods. Some mods are coded to make sure the db is the same version as the forum files. It's more of a PITA than anything else. LOL
Quote from: Daniel Hofverberg on November 12, 2020, 06:58:42 PMFor some reason, the database had a default collation of that weird utf8_mb4_0900_ai_ci, which I have never willingly opted for.

I can only assume it must have happened when I recently switched to a new server host (as the old host shut down) - it seems that utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci is the default collation since MySQL 8.0 (for some strange reason), so apparently it must have used the default for the database itself when I imported the dump from the old server. Very annoying... :(

I'm so sorry for wasting your time with something that apparently wasn't SMF Arcade's fault. :-[

Different hosting will use different collations by default. To change this, follow this article:

Also, make sure that you do what's in this link to help:

Quote from: Daniel Hofverberg on November 09, 2020, 06:18:30 AMNote: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 2.0.17, while your database is at version 2.0. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php."

What does that mean, and how do I resolve this?

It means that you've probably upgraded your forum via the admin link in SMF instead of doing it manually. This is a long time bug that they refuse to acknowledge or fix. To fix it, follow this article I've created long ago in the link below. Just make sure that you download the large upgrade package for the SMF version that you are currently using (2.0.17) found here:

Then follow the article I've made here:

Hi, Phantom_Hugger and welcome to Webdevelop! :)

You can download the arcade here:

After you install the arcade, go to Admin -> Arcade Admin. In the Arcade Admin dropdown, click Manage Uploads. There, you can drag and drop the games or click "Browse" to search and add games stored on your device of choice.

After the game(s) have uploaded, go the Manage Installations to install the uploaded games so you can play them.

So busy that I totally missed that. Also, was going to ask if that mod has been updated lately...
